What we both agree to 2017-07-26T09:29:12+00:00

There is an important process at the beginning of a coaching relationship when the contracting takes place.  Actually, it’s an important process at the beginning, and during and probably also at the end of any relationship, but it often gets overlooked.

During our first conversation, we will talk about what you expect from coaching, whether the way I work seems to be in line with what will work for you.  We’ll also talk about what you hope to achieve from coaching, how many sessions would make sense, and how and when to review.  We’ll talk about the price and how to pay it, as well as how to get the best from the sessions.

If you decide to work with me, I’ll ask you to agree to this contract:

I, the client, agree that:

I am committed to taking positive action to make improvements in my life

I accept that I am responsible for my own actions, decisions and choices reached during the coaching sessions

I understand that the sessions are confidential and it’s in my interest to be as open and honest in the session as I can

I understand that coaching is a comprehensive process which may involve all areas of my life including work, family, health, relationships and recreation

I understand that the coach isn’t there to advise me or tell me what to do; I have the answers inside me and she’s going to help me find them

I accept that coaching is not a substitute for counselling or therapy, mental health care or substance abuse treatment

I agree that I must inform the coach if I am currently in any kind of therapy and that any medical or therapeutic practitioners involved in my care have been advised of the coaching

I will be on time and prepared for each session

I will give as much notice as possible and at least 24 hours if I need to cancel or reschedule a session

I will pay the agreed fee in advance and commit to a minimum of 6 sessions

I will raise with the coach anything I am unhappy about and give honest feedback when asked, and when needed

It is time to move my life forward with commitment and confidence

I, the coach, agree that:

I will be on time and prepared for each session

I will bring attentive listening, understanding, belief in you and a commitment to your success

I will challenge you and offer fresh perspectives to your life as well as suggest ‘work’ between sessions

I will maintain confidentiality unless the law or some serious ethical requirement demands it

During our sessions I will be totally focussed on your needs and committed to helping you set and reach your goals

I will let you know if I think life coaching isn’t the best form of support for you and we will work together to determine what might be more useful

I will coach you to the best of my ability, bringing all that is relevant from my professional and personal experience.  During our sessions you will have my undivided attention; between sessions you may contact me by email or text and I will get back to you as soon as I can

I will give you as much notice as I can, and at least 24 hours if I need to reschedule a session
